Thank you. My great, great grandmother was Wilhelmina Zitzlaff Ienenfeldt (you have it Inhenfeldt)
Bertha her daughter was my great grandmother, Bertha Lawin. I would like to find pictures of them if there are any.
Linda,
I will add your spelling to my database of captives. Thank you for providing it! I looked her up in my bibliography and see her page is not extensive. But pasted below are the sources of her stories I have listed:
“The Story of Mrs. Inefeldt” in Carrigan, Minnie Bruce Captured by the Indians: Reminiscences of Pioneer Life in Minnesota (Forest City, South Dakota, no pub., 1907) Carrigan on line at The Library of Congress:

Dorothy Kuske “Under the Protection of the Great Spirit” [as told by Wilhelmina Ihnenfeld] reprinted in Minnesota Territorial Pioneers, Pioneer Chronicles Minneapolis: Mini-Print Inc. 1976. 240-50.
Linda, I have a picture of Bertha posted on my website http://www.dakotavictims1862.com found under the tab, Victim Photographs.
An interesting entry on the list is Mrs. Mazahdewin. This is Winona Crawford, wife of Akipa and mother of Susan Frenier Brown, whose Indian name Mazahdewin means Tinkling Iron. The two children mystify me, but may be grandchildren. Her other children, Gabriel Renville and Charlie Crawford, are listed separately (being adults in their 30s). Thomas Crawford Renville does not show up. What the subterfuge was for, I cannot say. Riggs certainly knew who she was.
Thanks for posting all of these records.
Nancy Goodman
Very Interesting! My great-grandmother’s (Susan A. Lowrie nee White) aunt was Urania White, wife of Nathan Dexter White. They moved to Beaver Township in 1862 shortly before the Sioux Uprising. Their 16 year old son, Eugene, was killed by the indians on September 18, 1862 near Beaver Creek, shortly before Urania’s capture. The last words she heard Eugene say were, “Ma run faster or they will catch you.” Urania’s riveting story was published in Collections of the Minnesota Historical Society. … v.9. (1901), “Captivity Among the Sioux” which you can find online.
Should have said August 18, 1862 in above comment.
